Insomnia
19–26 June 2005

An exhibition and performance programme for Refugee Week 2005

The Live Art Development Agency, and Jen Harvie and Nicholas Ridout of Queen Mary and PSi#12 collaborated with the British Red Cross Refugee Unit on Insomnia, an exhibition and performance programme for Refugee Week 2005. Insomnia took place at the Bargehouse on London's South Bank in June 2005 and presented the work of refugee and non-refugee artists interested in ideas of exile, immigration and displacement. The collaboration with Refugee Week aimed to inform the agendas and curatorial approach to PSi and involved co-curating the Insomnia performance programme and leading a panel discussion on the ways performance can inform different ways of being and seeing in the world, and the ways in which artists working with performance based strategies can affect cultural, social and political change.
